I was having a conversation with my dad the other night and I joked that I was planning on losing 20 pounds (keyword: joke). He told me that my goal was my very problem. Instead, he chooses to divide his goals into feasible chunks so that he can keep himself motivated and accountable. “Aim to lose 5 pounds in the month of January and see just how motivated you’ll be for February“. Pops really came through with some wisdom. So, taking his advice and in the spirit of holding myself accountable this month, I’ll be posting 4 goals (whether big or small, serious or not) every month and letting the power of the internet hold me to them. At the end of every month, I’ll post a recap to see how I did.
1. Finally finish Malcolm Gladwell’s ‘Outliers’ – I love this book, but for some reason I’m yet to finish it. I know it’s premature to speak on it since I haven’t finished, but if this book doesn’t inspire you to put your all into your craft, I’m not sure what will. Get it here.
2. Take my vitamins every morning (keep track of this on my calendar) – I’ve been super inconsistent with taking my Women’s Energy and Hair, Skin, and Nails vitamins, aiming to change that this month. So far 3 days going strong.
3. Record at least one vlog – This is going to be a hard one for me! I have a love/hate relationship with Youtube and recording things as I do them.
4. Create a budget for the semester – In order to sustain my wunderlust, I realized that I need to increase my net income. My hope for this month is to make much more than I spend. I use mint.com to track my transactions and trends, but I’ll be using a spreadsheet to plan out my budget (Mint does this too).
What are your goals for the month?
